Assistant to the Medical Director

New York, New York | Full-Time Direct Hire

We are hiring a full time, permanent Assistant to the Medical Director for a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing treatment for substance use problems in adolescents, young adults and families.

This position entails strong administrative skills, a commitment to confidentiality, and desire to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the office of the Medical Director in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.

Skills and Qualifications

·         Exceptional organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task with a positive attitude.

·         Proven self-starter with a strong sense of initiative.

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

·         Experience working in a diverse, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

·         Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write and speak clearly, quickly and persuasively.

·         Familiarity with EMR and electronic prescribing preferred.

·         Familiarity with OASAS regulations, addiction, mental health problems and adolescent and young adult development appreciated.

·         Bachelor’ s Degree and five years of experience in the setting of a professional office environment.


·         Manages Medical Director’ s written and verbal communications professionally and effectively (emails, voicemails).

·         Facilitates materials and accommodations for internal and external meetings and workshops, records meeting minutes, prepares meeting agendas.

·         Provides thorough research when needed to create and organize reports, speeches, and memoranda.

·         Schedules patient appointments and is able to coordinate with external providers and insurance companies to respond to patient needs on Medical Director’ s behalf.

·         Liaise between Medical Director and primary therapists when appropriate to obtain and follow up on clinical issues.

·         Attends regular meetings (3x/wk) with clinical team to promote inter-functional communication and cooperation.
