Job Description

We are hiring for the of Director of Psychology Training in Sherman Oaks. The Director of Psychology Training is responsible for overseeing the agency’ s formal training programs for master-level, doctoral-level and post-doctoral graduate students in psychology. Our year-long psychology internship is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

  • Directs and administers the APA accredited doctoral psychology internship training program, APPIC member post-doctoral training program, and master’ s level internship/practicum programs.
  • Determines the format, nature and structure of formal training programs including the philosophy, goals objectives, methods for reaching goals, methods for evaluation of performance and amount and type of supervision/training necessary to reach goals.
  • Oversees the recruitment process which includes yearly review of applications, open houses and interviews.
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices related to training in psychology.
  • Supervises the Practicum Training Coordinator and assigns/oversees duties of other licensed supervisors.
  • Leads monthly Training Committee meetings.
  • Schedules weekly intern trainings and group supervision meetings, creates content for various seminars, and makes seminar assignments to other licensed staff.
  • Updates the training manuals, policies, procedures, and forms yearly and as needed.
  • Oversees the completion of evaluations and reviews evaluations to ensure consistency with training standards.
  • Supervises any of the following direct service experience of interns or post-doc fellow: assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, and group treatment.
  • Provides 24-hour availability and crisis intervention to supervisees on an as-needed basis.
  • Communicates and collaborates with University Directors of Clinical Training on training progress and any remediation plans for current interns.
  • Networks with other training directors both locally and nationally and keeps abreast of training issues in the field of psychology.
  • Other administrative duties may include program development, staff hiring, and quality assurance.

  • Minimum licensure for five years; California Psychologist licensure eligible with the ability to supervise interns and unlicensed professionals in the state of California.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience of licensed or unlicensed professionals/interns and two years of experience in mental health program development and administration.
  • Must have expertise in the area of child/adolescent psychology. Preferably knowledge and experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Preferably has some experience in any of the following: day treatment, residential treatment, treatment of SED/LD populations, or milieu treatment.
  • Demonstration of leadership in the professional community through activism in local, state, or national professional organizations, or through activities.
  • Psychologists with bilingual Spanish speaking skills and/or from a diverse background are strongly encouraged to apply.
