Job Description

An inpatient psychiatric hospital located in the Madison, Wisconsin (Dane County) area is seeking a Medical Director / Psychiatrist. The facility is flourishing with new ownership and new leadership.

The Psychiatrist may be either an MD (Doctor of Medicine), or a DO, (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine). The organization serves adolescents 12+, adults, and seniors. The Medical Director is responsible for leadership, quality assurance, oversight, and overall medical management of the hospital. Responsibilities include planning, organizing medical and clinical practices, medical staff supervision, providing direct patient care, and assisting other departments with direct interactions with physicians or medical staff.

Job Duties
·Oversees quality, efficiency, and management of delivering medical services within the facility.
·Treats and directs treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
·Defines protocols and assists in decision making pertaining to the medical care of patients that is consistent with current medical practice and facility policies and procedures.
·Provides oversight and supervision to other professional medical staff, as well as guidance to administrative or support staff, as designated.
· Oversees compliance regarding the appropriate medical management of patients, clinical programming, documentation, and ethical issues to ensure that all services are provided in a safe and effective manner.
· Serves as a liaison between the medical staff, other clinic staff, division or corporate staff, and organizational leadership.
· Serves in a teaching capacity for the training and development of other staff.
· On call rotation.
· Evaluates patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Secures physical exam and history from the patient, reviews medical records, makes medical evaluations, requests appropriate diagnostic testing, prescribes medications and treatments.

Job Qualifications
· Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) supplemented by the completion of psychiatric residency training required.
· One or more years’ post graduate degree practice preferred.
· Current license to practice medicine in the state of Wisconsin.
· Board certification or certificate of admissibility for board certification in a behavioral health specialty.
· Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions.
