Current Role & Growth Opportunity:
Working as a contractor, you will serve as a hospital-based trauma informed counselor at Cook Children’ s Medical Center, utilizing your therapy skills assisting hospital staff that deals with trauma on a daily basis. You will work with medical center staff to identify connections between specific workplace trauma experiences and the employee’ s emotional and behavioral responses. Your focus will involve assisting staff to better understand, cope with, and process emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences occurring in the workplace. The ultimate goal is empowering staff to create a healthier and more adaptive meanings of the trauma experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide face to face short term individual trauma informed counseling for medical center staff
  • Conduct thorough and accurate assessments of employee needs
  • Provide empathic treatment while maintaining confidentiality, integrity and boundaries
  • Exhibit interest and initiative in professional growth, engage in self-work and reflection
  • Are reliable and regular in communication with both client and colleagues
  • Consult with medical center management in addressing specific needs of employees.
  • Refer employees to additional EAP counseling and supportive services as needed.
  • Participate in both ongoing external and hospital-based trauma informed training.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with medical center staff, and other professionals.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should be licensed to practice in Texas (LPC, Psy.D., LCSW, LMFT). Previous training in trauma-informed care or the desire to develop this expertise is essential.
