A mission-driven, therapeutic residential treatment program located in central-eastern Vermont is seeking a full-time Director of Clinical Services. The program specializes in the treatment of adults with persistent psychiatric illness.
The Director of Clinical Services provides senior-level clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for residential and behavioral health programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and client-centered care while advancing clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong program outcomes.
The Director oversees clinical staff and service delivery and partners closely with residential and executive leadership to ensure coordinated, effective, and consistent programming across all services.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership
Provide individual and group therapy aligned with treatment plans and clinical best practices
Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and collaborative treatment planning
Monitor client progress within residential programming
Provide crisis intervention and risk management support
Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
Coordinate referrals and discharge planning with external providers
Participate in admissions reviews and referral consultations
Clinical Supervision & Program Oversight
Provide weekly supervision to clinical staff
Oversee clinical documentation quality, compliance, and service delivery standards
Conduct chart audits and ensure regulatory compliance
Manage caseload assignments and staffing coverage
Lead clinical team meetings and coordinate with residential leadership
Support crisis response coordination and clinical decision-making
Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of clinical staff
Develop and refine clinical policies, procedures, and outcome measures
Program & Organizational Leadership
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and program development
Support continuous quality improvement initiatives
Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and organizational regulations
Build and sustain relationships with referral sources and community partners
Contribute to organizational leadership meetings and initiatives
Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related human services field
Active independent clinical license (LCMHC, LICSW, LMFT, or equivalent) in applicable state(s)
Minimum of 3 years of clinical and/or operational leadership experience in behavioral health or residential treatment settings
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and clinical supervision skills
Deep understanding of behavioral health and trauma-informed care
Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound clinical and operational decisions
Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Commitment to collaboration, accountability, and continuous quality improvement
