Job Description

We are assisting a well-respected clinical service provider in its search for a full-time Senior Forensic Clinician in San Diego, CA. The employer offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

The Senior Forensic Clinician plays a key role in coordinating and implementing forensic treatment and supervision plans within an interdisciplinary team. This position provides comprehensive clinical, case management, and forensic services to an adult forensic population, ensuring high standards of care and adherence to court and program requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate individualized forensic treatment and supervision plans.
  • Provide core clinical services including individual and group therapy, collateral contacts, crisis intervention, and case management.
  • Prepare and submit required court reports such as 90-Day Progress Reports, Annual Review Reports, Restoration to Sanity Reports, and Revocation of Outpatient Status Reports.
  • Collaborate closely with legal professionals and provide expert or material witness testimony as needed.
  • Administer and score risk assessments (e.g., HCR-20, PCL-R/SV) and incorporate assessment results into treatment and supervision planning.
  • Participate in annual staffings, interdisciplinary meetings, and case reviews.
  • Support additional program initiatives or projects as directed by the Program Director or Program Coordinator.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES

Minimum Education Required:
  • A doctoral degree in Psychology or a master’s degree in social work from an accredited university.
  • Doctoral-level training in the field of Forensic Psychology.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience Required:
  • Clinical experience in provision of individual and group treatment with individuals with severe mental illnesses.
  • Clinical treatment of both acute and chronic mentally ill populations in a forensic setting.
  • Assessment of risk of violence.
  • Integration of treatment and supervision in clinical work.
  • Preparation of written client evaluations and progress reports.

Desired Experience:
  • Courtroom testimony.
  • Providing supervision to psychologists in training.
